Rattan worked for IBERS/Aberystwyth University as Senior Research Scientist between Jul 2004 and Sep 2010, for Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, as Research Scientist, Plant Molecular Geneticist/Breeder between Jul 1996 and Jun 2004, for International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) as Project Scientist between Jan 1995 and Jun 1996, for Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as Agricultural Research Services (ARS) Cadre Plant Breeding Scientist for ICAR between Feb 1986 and Sep 1991.
