Michel has studied at Higher professional education (Technische Bedrijfskunde Dordrecht) in Industrial Sales between 1993 and 1994, then at Higher Technical School (HTS Utrecht) in Material Science between 1988 and 1992, then at Intermediate Technical School (MTS Rotterdam) in Metallurgy between 1985 and 1988.

Michel worked for Econosto (an ERIKS company) as Branch Unit Manager Chemical, Petrochemical and Tankstorage between Feb 1998 and Jul 2014.
