Ian has studied at IPC Designers Council in Printed Circuit Design between 2007 and 2007, then at in Communications between 1982 and 1987, then at Aspley High School between 1977 and 1981.

Ian worked for Fastrack Circuit Boards as CAM Manager between 1998 and 2002, for Automotive Computer Company as Senior Technician between 1993 and 1998, for Queensland State Reporting Bereau as Senior Technical Officer between 1992 and 1993, for Telecom Australia as Senior Technical Officer between 1982 and 1992.
