Krishnan has studied at INDIAN SCHOOL OF MINES, DHANBAD in APPLIED GEOLOGY between 1985 and 1988, then at Presidency College, Chennai in Geology with Chemistry and Physics between 1982 and 1985.

Krishnan worked for CNOOC International as Specialist/Manager Petrophysics - Exploration & New Ventures between Dec 2011 and Nov 2019, for Independent as Consultant Geoscientist between Jul 2009 and Nov 2011, for Brunei Shell Petroleum as Petrophysicist between Sep 2005 and Jun 2009, for Hardy Exploration & Production as Senior Ops Geologist & Petrophysicist between Dec 1997 and Sep 2005.
