Lee has studied at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center between 1990 and 1992, then at University of Florida College of Medicine between 1983 and 1990, then at University of Virginia School of Medicine between 1979 and 1983.

Lee worked for National Cancer Institute (NCI) as Vice Chair, NCI Colon Cancer Task Force of the GI Cancers Steering Committee between Jan 2012 and Jan 2018, for American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as Member, Nominating Committee between Jun 2012 and Jun 2016, for University of Florida as Surgery residency between 1983 and 1990.
